Children and Families Understood: 2026 CLASI Webinar Series

The 2026 CLASI Webinar Series, "Children and Families Understood," provides a focused exploration of Ayres Sensory Integration® (ASI) in contemporary research and practice.

Understanding and supporting the sensory needs of individuals and families requires reliable assessment tools, rigorous outcome measures, and a commitment to collaborative research. This six-part series is designed to connect foundational ASI theory with practical, data-driven clinical applications.

Throughout the year, our sessions will address essential areas of practice. This includes the ongoing refinement of the EASI, strategies for global data pooling, and the development of occupation-based outcome measures. We will also examine how to identify sensory integration concerns across the lifespan, extending support to older adolescents and adults, while discussing functional methods to ensure worldwide access to standardized ASI assessments.

While each session explores current research and the ongoing development of assessment tools, a core component of this series is translating that content into practical, actionable strategies. We will ensure that complex research findings are directly connected to the daily life of practitioners, making the information relevant and applicable to your daily clinical routines.

By bringing together international researchers and practitioners, this series aims to equip occupational therapists and related professionals with the objective knowledge necessary to provide effective, evidence-based support for diverse populations.

Building and Refining Assessment Tools in Ayres Sensory Integration

How do we build assessment tools that truly capture the complexity of sensory integration, and how do we use them meaningfully in clinical practice? In this opening session of CLASI's 2026 webinar series, Tricia Grady, Marco Leão, and Zoe Mailloux explore the development and ongoing refinement of assessment tools in Ayres Sensory Integration — with a focus on the Evaluation in Ayres Sensory Integration (EASI). Participants will leave with concrete clinical takeaways on how to interpret assessment profiles and translate findings into informed, evidence-based decisions at the point of care. Whether you're new to these instruments or looking to sharpen your clinical reasoning, this session bridges the science and the everyday realities of practice.

Building and Refining Assessment Tools of Ayres Sensory Integration®

n this rich conversation, Zoe Mailloux, Patricia Grady-Dominguez, and Marco Leão take us behind the scenes of how assessment tools in Ayres Sensory Integration® are developed, tested, refined, and interpreted.

From the early development to the evolution of the Evaluation in Ayres Sensory Integration (EASI), this session explores the science, collaboration, and clinical thinking that shape the tools we use today.

The webinar also dives into the role of psychometrics, Rasch measurement, and score interpretation, helping clinicians understand not only what these tools measure, but why that matters for understanding children and supporting families.
