Comprehensive Assessment in ASI

Module 2 is a set of 20 lessons aimed at introducing and orienting the learner to the scope of comprehensive assessment in ASI, inluding specific methods for assessing core sensory integrative functions and to plan intervention when appliying the ASI framework. Learner are introduced to information on direct and indirect assessments including the Sensory Integration and Praxis Tests (SIPT) through and the Evaluation in Ayres Sensory Integration (EASI) (Mailloux, Parham & Smith Roley, 2016, in process).

 WHO CAN ENROLL IN M2: Module 2 is open to health-care professionals with college/university degrees in occupational therapy, speech pathology, physical therapy, psychology, and medicine. Module 2 is a prerequisite to module 3.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES. After the course, participants will be able to:

  • Determine an assessment plan for a client

  • Determine the evaluations appropriate to assess ASI constructs in all areas;

  • Analyze the psychometric strength of the evaluations

  • Reliably administer the SIPT, SPM and EASI

  • Understand the constructs tested by sensory related measures

  • Design clinical observations of sensory integration constructs when standardized measures are not possible

  • Demonstrate competence in the application of clinical observations based on ASI;

  • Identify whether an evaluation report meets the standard for structural elements on ASI Intervention Fidelity Measure.

Zoe Mailloux, OTD, OTR/L, FAOTA

Zoe is a founding partner, alongside Susanne Smith Roley, of the Collaborative for Leadership in Ayres Sensory Integration (CLASI). She has participated in test development and clinical research related to sensory integrative dysfunction and autism and she was a research assistant to Dr. A. Jean Ayres from 1978 to 1984 during which time she was involved in many clinical and research projects with Dr. Ayres. Zoe has more than 30 years of experience in non-profit management and she is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy, Jefferson School of Health Professions at Thomas Jefferson University.  She is also in private practice and consults on a variety of projects including program and professional development. Zoe has published numerous journal articles and textbook chapters and has received a number of professional awards, including being named a fellow of AOTA in 1993. She also received an award of excellence from the Autism Research Foundation, the Wilma West Lectureship at the University of Southern California and the A. Jean Ayres Award and the Virginia Scardina Award of Excellence from the American Occupational Therapy Foundation.  Zoe is interested in innovative practice that will enhance life satisfaction in new and effective ways for children and their families.



Module 2 will provide 30 hours of training including the assignments. CLASI is an approved provider of continuing education units (CEU) by the American Occupational Therapy Association. M2 is also approved for CEUs by the California Physical Therapy Association. The following AOTA CE Classification Code applies to M2: Occupational Therapy Practice.


The online platform guides you through the lessons, supplemental videos and assignments. The user friendly system allows you to create your own account to manage all of your modules. You must have internet access that allows streaming to complete the lessons. Online lessons are available for 1 year from the date of purchase, allowing you to return to the content to review and refine your understanding.
